"A lie - a wicked lie... we never did - neither of us..."
Thomas Rogers was one of ten guests invited to Soldier Island. He was the fourth to die, in the manner laid out in the poem.
Mr Rogers was the mansion's butler and Ethel Rogers' husband. He dominated his weak-willed wife, and they killed their former elderly employer by withholding her medicine, causing the woman to die from heart failure, thus inheriting the money she bequeathed them in her will. Despite his wife's death, Rogers was still serving the others.
"Thomas Rogers and Ethel Rogers, that on the 6th of May, 1929, you brought about the death of Jennifer Brady."
He killed his elderly employer Jennifer Brady with the help of his wife by withholding restorative drugs from her, in order to inherit her money, though they were careful to make it look like simple negligence.
"One chopped himself in halves and then there were Six."
Rogers is found dead in the woodshed, having been struck in the head with a large axe up on the wall.
